Altertango is an alternative tango band formed in Mendoza, Argentina, at the beginning of the 21st century. Throughout its various lineups, the group has consolidated a sound that, in the words of the specialized press, has become a true “figurehead” of contemporary tango and a reference point for new generations.
Their artistic proposal is characterized by the fusion of traditional tango language with elements of rock, jazz, and contemporary music, resulting in a powerful, emotional, and deeply urban sonic identity. The intensity of their live performances has become one of their main trademarks, creating a direct and visceral connection with audiences.
Altertango has performed on stages across Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Uruguay, Spain, France, Switzerland, and Sweden, taking part in festivals, theaters, and renowned venues on the international circuit.
Currently based in Barcelona, the band is an active part of the city’s cultural scene and is in the process of recording its eighth album, titled La saga dels marges, featuring distinguished guest artists such as Magalí Sare, Alejandro Guyot, Josefina Rozenwasser Marin, and Jor Villarnovo.
