Sara Correia arrives in 2023 with the well-deserved status of a phenomenon: she has toured the world to applause, released two albums acclaimed by the public, praised by critics, and awarded by the industry, been nominated for the Latin Grammys, and called to sing for Portugal under the watchful eye of institutional Europe. She has sung to Amália and bowed before Carlos do Carmo, gathered some of the best lyricists and composers of today around her, and affirmed fado as her home. ‘And everything,’ she assures, happened naturally, without me looking for it or forcing events. Everything has turned out as life has ordained it,”Sara assures modestly.
Liberdade, the fado singer also explains, is exactly the album that she wanted to make at this point, an album that has been recorded without any pressure, the fruit of many conversations with her regular producer, Diogo Clemente. “We have designed an album entirely with a melodic fado language and a strong Portuguese air” emphasizes the producer. A uniform and cohesive album, tinged with many colors and different textures resulting from subtle experiences and influences captured in other genres. All of this fits into Sara Correia’s fado, all of this resonates in her soul that lives fully in this Liberdade.
